About the Role
Within the CTO office, this role will be responsible for providing solution based thought leadership, bridging the network, data center and Cloud/IT infrastructure into repeatable offers. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Solutions Architects, the Global Solutions Architect will be responsible for supporting strategic sales engagements, driving thought leadership in a cross functional manner and supporting the global Cloud strategy for Equinix. The candidate will support key initiatives that include but are not limited to strategic sales engagements, development of offers and repeatable solutions and use cases focused on the five sales verticals within the Equinix Ecosystem (Network, Financial, Cloud, Content/Digital Media, and Enterprise)

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic support for Equinix sales organizations
  • Drive thought leadership in areas of new technology and innovation
  • Support the Global Cloud initiative
  • Building a cross vertical consulting practice focused on growing the quality and quantity of the company’s business focused on network, enterprise, and cloud, content and interconnection.
  • Understanding how to intuitively work in a cross functional manner with resources in the CIO, CTO, CMO and CSO organizations.
  • Support existing strategic accounts, Global accounts and new lines of business
  • Understand the goals of the company and position, and effectively develop strategies to meet those goals.
  • Continually refresh knowledge to maintain industry leadership
  • Operate in a three-tiered engagement architecture that includes demand capture, demand creation and professional services touch points.
  • Understand how to conduct requirements, design, implementation, and operations phases of a project
  • Plan, execute, and communicate the results of the work required in defined consulting focused engagements.
  • Organizing additional technical resources within the organization to address client needs when necessary
  • Medium travel to Equinix HQ, industry events and customer engagements


Qualifications & Experience
  • 10+ years of Solutions selling and technical support experience in the high-tech industry preferably in the network, cloud and/or data center markets
  • Consultative based mindset
  • Expertise in developing global solutions for current and prospective clients on a global basis
  • Ability to define a solution vision and deliver use case to clients via a test environment (Solution Validation Center)
  • Demonstrate strong listening and collaboration skill for uncovering unmet customer technology-based needs and translating the requirements into strategic solutions
  • Experience presenting to large groups
  • High motivation level and appetite for fast-paced team environment; readily adaptable to changing market and organization requirements
  • Results oriented
  • Experience with Network Peering, CDN’s, fault tolerant designs, and QOS mapping
  • Technology skills a must, including:
    • Layer 1,2,3 experience in the OSI stack
    • Familiarity with Layers 4-7 of the OSI Stack
    • Routing and Switching protocols
    • MPLS and IPVN services
    • Public, Private and Hybrid cloud services and deployment methodology
    • SDN, OpenStack, OpenFlow and network automation and virtualization
    • Software and Database system development
    • TCP/IP- IPv4 and IPv6
    • BCDR methodology
    • Storage Platform technologies (SAN/NAS) including Hardware and Software (EMC/NetApp/Sun/IBM/HP/VMWare/Citrix/Brocade/Juniper)
    • Network optimization- WAN acceleration, Edge aggregation and performance modeling
    • Network provisioning process and procedures
    • Network and Data security- IPS, Firewalls, ACL’s, etc.
