About The Role

The Vice President of Marketing Strategy and Operations plays an important and influential role in the strategic direction and ongoing management of Equinix. Reporting to the CMO, the successful candidate will lead a team of marketing strategy, marketing automation and shared services professionals that serve as the heart of an analytic approach to marketing execution globally.


Marketing Strategy and Insight
  • Perform custom addressable market sizing and best practice customer segmentation and targeting to support regional and country field marketing teams across the globe
  • Gather and synthesize market trends through synthesis of 3rd party and primary research
  • Perform industry supply/demand analysis to inform global expansion priorities and pricing strategy
  • Perform programmatic competitive intelligence to inform company go-to-market strategy and differentiating customer value propositions
  • Provide “service bureau” market research to sales and marketing stakeholders
Marketing Operations
  • Define, operate and govern the end-to-end lead management process in conjunction with other sales and marketing stakeholders, including lead capture, nurturing, and service-level agreements associated with moving leads through nurturing cycle.
  • Work across marketing to establish a common, integrated campaign framework, processes and governance model for the global marketing community to leverage
  • Own and operate the global marketing automation platform that underpins lead generation and lead nurturing; Drive requirements and execution of marketing automation linkage to customer relationship management systems.
  • Maintain current and prospective customer database for use in sales and marketing programs.  Own and manage other Marketing data and align to relevant corporate data initiatives
  • Provide global reporting and insight on the effectiveness of our demand generation investments
Brand Operations
  • Develop, publish and maintain key umbrella brand messaging and brand guidelines and manage global governance process
  • Support creative execution of brand content to support product and vertical marketing needs, as well as other Equinix constituent needs
  • Measure awareness and strength of the Equinix brand; develop strategies to improve awareness in key markets and verticals
Digital Strategy and Operations
  • Manage and maintain all aspects of and affiliated digital properties to drive traffic and lead sourcing goals
  • Manage the editorial calendar for managing content on
  • Develop and direct global SEO and SEM strategy to drive traffic and engagement on Equinix digital properties
  • Develop digital analytics to derive insight on our integrated marketing efforts
Business Operations
  • Direct planning, management and maintenance of operating budget for global marketing function in partnership with CMO
  • Lead marketing process optimization efforts aimed at driving efficiency and effectiveness in conjunction with impacted marketing and sales functions
  • Establish and generate marketing reporting and analytics that measure impact/ROI of the marketing function
  • Support strategic communications and analytics development for the CMO

Qualifications & Experience
  • 15+ years of B2B marketing leadership experience in marketing operations, marketing communications, corporate marketing and/or solutions marketing
  • Experience owning, optimizing and operating marketing and sales automation processes and platforms at scale, with proven success in nurturing and accelerating leads through a sales/marketing engine
  • Deep understanding of data-driven closed loop marketing process development, management and measurement
  • Past leadership of strategic and financial planning and budgeting processes, as well as global financial management in the marketing domain
  • Experience with digital/inbound marketing strategy and execution domains, including Web and content marketing
  • Demonstrated strong listening and collaboration skills for uncovering and synthesizing requirements into an aligned plan with business and functional stakeholders
  • Proven track record of supporting sales to meet or exceed pipeline, sales and revenue targets
  • Proven experience in building and leading high performing teams in both direct-line and matrixed organization models
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and comfort regularly communicating at a C+ or board level
  • Highly motivation level and appetite for fast-paced team environment; readily adaptable to changing market and organizational requirements
  • Strong analytics capability, data-driven and results oriented
  • Advanced degree in business or management highly preferred
  • Ability to travel 20-30%
